TEA+ Artist Talk with Aki Yahata & Chihhung Liu

We are pleased to present an artist talk featuring Aki Yahata, who completed a residency in Taipei from April to June 2026, and Liu Chih-Hung, who is currently in residence at Tokyo University of the Arts. They will speak about their artistic practices, research, and experiences during their respective residencies.

During her residency, Aki Yahata conducted research on traditional East Asian medicine, Taiwanese lion dance, and drum culture. Drawing on these studies, she developed artworks that explore the relationships between human beings, the body, and the natural environment.
Meanwhile, Chihhung Liu has been researching the fishing cultures of Japan’s coastal regions, including Southern Bōsō, the Miura Peninsula, and the Izu Peninsula. His research also examines maiwai—traditional celebratory kimono historically made and worn by fishermen. We warmly welcome everyone to join us.
